Serve this plate of homemade wings at your next tailgating party or get together. This wing recipe is so easy to make!

Boy, do I love the taste of homemade fried anything but a fried buffalo chicken wing paired with a nice cold quality beer really warms my soul.

However, as a practice, I try to shy away from unhealthy food choices. Fried foods are not only a bad choice from a nutritional standpoint but they are a bad heart-healthy choice as well.

My Easy Chicken Wings are a Weight Loss-Friendly Recipe

I set about trying to take an unhealthy recipe like homemade chicken wings and make them healthier. What I came up with far exceeded my expectations.

Homemade Easy Chicken Wing Sauce Recipe

Over the course of my buffalo chicken-eating days, I have realized that there are so many options for how to prepare the wings and how to make delicious wing sauces.

To make my homemade wing recipe stand out, I had to get creative.

A tender juicy chicken wing is a must but they flavor really pops in a great sauce. Far too often, I see recipes using Franks hot sauce and a few additional spices.

By infusing mango into the salsa based wing sauce, it gave my wings an exotic yet refreshing change from the traditional chicken wing recipe.

The amazing part about this sauce recipe is how much flavor comes from so few ingredients. The sauce consists of a standard mild salsa, cayenne pepper, honey or agave syrup and cubed the mango, salt, and pepper. That’s it.

Cutting Down on the Calories with This Tangy Easy Wing Recipe

When it comes to buffalo wings and sauces, the nutritional value isn’t usually a consideration. There are not many calories or carbs in most wing sauce recipes.

Most of the negative nutrients are in the wing’s breading or from being cooked in the deep fryer.

Our homemade wing sauce is made with salsa, agave syrup and a host of other delicious but mild spices.

Not only does our wing recipe take advantage of ingredients that are lower in caloric and carbohydrate value, but is baked in the oven for a perfect, yet a healthier alternative to traditional wing recipes.

An individual serving should be around 362 calories and 28 grams. As an added bonus, each serving should provide about 24 grams of protein.

How Hot is This Buffalo Wing Sauce?

In our wing recipe, we added a dash of cayenne pepper but not to worry, it doesn’t really ramp up the heat level that much. For my tastes, the heat index is on the lower end of the spectrum.

If you are not a fan of the heat, just remove the cayenne pepper from the list of ingredients.
