I created this Whoppers candies recipe because chocolate covered malted milk balls can be made at home with basic ingredients. If you love chocolate like I do, you will love this homemade Whopper recipe using white chocolate ,milk chocolate and malted milk powder.
Fond memories of Halloween candy
Back when I was a kid, I used to love going out for Halloween candy with my friends. Back in the stone age, we used to make our Halloween costumes ourselves. Halloween was a major event back then and the anticipation built for months in advance. Back then you could walk around for hours on end as there were no curfews. Most people would hand out candy but far too often people would hand out popcorn or apples instead. I remember my face lighting up when someone would hand out Whoppers. The milk chocolate and malt go oh so well together. I think kids today don’t really experience the joy of Halloween like previous generations.
Adults and candy don’t mix
As an adult, I never stopped loving chocolate covered malted milk balls. The only difference is now I am worried about my ever-expanding waistline. When my kids go out for Trick or Treat, I make them pay the daddy tax. “Hand over the Whoppers!” is what I tell them. It’s a small price to pay for them.
My path to the elusive Whoppers candies recipe
When I decided to do an internet search for Whopper Candies Recipe I was quite surprised in the small results that came back. The only relevant result was from foodnetwork but the result was very unpleasant to look at. The Whopper looked non-spherical and unprofessional. This got me thinking… I can make Whoppers myself.
What you will need for homemade chocolate covered malted milk balls
The most important part of this recipe is the milk chocolate chips and the silicon mold for half spheres. Purchase Nestle Tollhouse White chocolate chips, a paint brush and the malted milk powder from your local grocery.
The final product
To my surprise, I was right. With a little patience, I was able to make quality a Whopper candies recipe using the recipe above as a guideline and incorporating a procedure to make truffles.
In the end, the final results are more pleasing to the eye and the taste is just as good if not better when compared to the Whopper candy I remember as a kid. My kids and wife wiped out the batches that I made in this post. It’s time to make some more.
